What Size Collar Do You Need for Your Pet?

Dog Crate Central feels is imperative that you measure your pet's neck to determine what size collar you need.

Use a tape measure to measure your pet's neck, and then add on two to three inches.

Put the measuring tape around your pet's neck, with your 2 fingers (index and middle finger) flat against your dog’s neck INSIDE the tape measure. Please note...if you do not have a loose tape measure, use a string or ribbon and measure the neck and then measure the string on a ruler or yardstick or hard tape measure.

Following these instructions should give you the exact neck size. If you get a 10" measurement for example, based on the type of collar, you will order to allow for adjustment, i.e., choose the size 10-12" to give you a little room for adjustment.  Remember also that the wider the collar, the tighter the fit will be.

Note also that size 6-7.5 in the x-small dog collars is a tiny measure for a very tiny dog.  But, please do not assume your tiny dog has a tiny neck!  We know of Chihuahua’s that have 10” necks.
